Abstract

The Mexican Conference on Pattern Recognition 2011 (MCPR 2011) was the third event in the series organized by the Computer Science Department of the National Institute for Astrophysics Optics and Electronics (INAOE) of Mexico. This year the conference was organized in conjunction with the Cancun Technological Institute, and under the auspices of the Mexican Association for Computer Vision, Neurocomputing and Robotics (MACVNR), which is affiliated to the International Association for Pattern Recognition (IAPR). This conference aims to provide a forum for the exchange of scientific results, practice, and new knowledge, as well as promoting co-operation among research groups in pattern recognition and related areas in Mexico, Central America and the world. MCPR 2011 was held in Cancun, Mexico. As in the second edition, MCPR 2011 attracted worldwide participation. Contributions were received from 17 countries. In total 69 papers were submitted, out of which 37 were accepted for publication in these proceedings and for presentation at the conference
