Abstract

Most of the western tonal music is based on the concept of tonality or key. The majority of the freely available symbolic music is coded in MIDI format. Usually, people that sequence the MIDI files do not to pay attention to the insertion of the proper key meta-event at the beginning of the song, so this key meta-event use not to be reliable. We propose a polyphonic symbolic music representation that uses trees as coding scheme to solve the problem of key finding, obtaining better performing times and success rates compared to other previous models.
