AbstractThis paper describes an initiative for preserving Slovenian digital heritage via setting Slovenian national digital archive. We have proposed methodology for archiving electronic publications based on the already established theoretical models that we used for defining specific procedures and standards relying on traditional library practice in Slovenia. We have also designed an efficient system for collecting Web publications and a robust system for archiving digital content obtained either from the Web or from other sources of electronic publications. Both systems are based on the standard methodology and incorporate several innovative approaches. It is envisioned that the developed archive will be publicly used for searching the content via some Web browser, so the user interface of our system is similar to the interface of popular search engines. We found that it is crucial to have an interdisciplinary team of research in strong collaboration with good knowledge on standards both from digital libraries as well as storing and analyzing textual data.
