Abstract

Results about and variations of the static ranking of web pages based on the so called random surfer model are reviewed and presented in a unified framework. A new model, the static absorbing model is also reviewed and compared with the random surfer model. Results include different fixed point algorithms, convergence rates, stability, and a method for pruning dangling pages.
